Board of Directors Election 2025

Nominations are now open for Board of Director positions at Family First of NY Federal Credit Union. There are currently three vacancies.

The Nominating Committee has met and put forward the following nominees for Board
positions for the April election:

  • Thomas Combs (Incumbent)
  • James Costello (Incumbent)
  • Ryan Payment (Incumbent)

As part of the nomination process, the candidate will need to submit a statement of qualifications and a short biography with information about work history, related credit union or financial experience and any other committee involvement. If the qualifications are not met, they can submit a petition signed by 1% of our current membership who are above the age of 18 (154 members). Signatures must be legible and include the member’s address. The deadline for submission is March 25, 2025. 

Final results will be tabulated and announced at the Annual Meeting on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at 8:30 a.m. at the Penfield Branch. The election will not be conducted by ballot and there will be no nomination from the floor when the number of nominees equals the number of positions filled. We invite you to join us that morning. Thomas Combs – (Incumbent)

Tom Combs has most recently retired as Vice President, Operations and Finance for the George Eastman Museum in Rochester, responsible for its Facilities, Security, Finance, IT and Human Resource functions. His career includes 16 years as CFO of Preferred Care/MVP Healthcare where he was responsible for Finance, Treasury, Actuarial Services and Facilities and, at various times, IT, Human Resources and call centers. He spent 7 years with Ecolab, Inc., a multinational specialty chemical and service firm, including a four-year posting in Canada, in senior Finance and General Management roles. For 7 years he was with PepsiCo, Inc., with a focus in corporate financial planning, analysis and acquisitions, principally in its international business.

Tom holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Union College and a Masters in Business Administration in Finance from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He is married to Cathy, with two sons, Tom and Greg, and has been a Penfield resident from 1959 to 1974 and 1991 to the present.

James Costello – (Incumbent)

James brings over 40 years of experience as a department director for the Town of Penfield. He is an experienced director with strengths in planning, zoning, economic development, government relations, and supporting existing Penfield businesses in maintaining their vitality. James has recently retired as the Director of Developmental Services for the Town of Penfield.

Ryan Payment – (Incumbent)

After graduating from Northeastern University in Boston in 1997, Ryan returned to Rochester and began working for a start-up retailer. He went on to earn his MBA from the University of Rochester Simon School of Business in 2003 and subsequently purchased a stake in a small start-up food retailer. In 2009 he joined Lakeland Equipment, a 6 location John Deere dealer which merged with a neighboring Deere dealer and became LandPro Equipment in 2017. Now with 20 locations, Ryan is currently serving as LandPro’s Vice President/CFO.
