We are aware that some of our Family First VISA card holders who are signed up for eStatements received a paper statement for the month of January. These members should have received their January VISA eStatements also and will not receive a paper statement fee. We’re working with our vendor to ensure this doesn’t happen in the future. We apologize for this error.

All Family First branches and the call center will be closing early on Monday, April 8 due to the full solar eclipse happening that afternoon. We hope you enjoy the eclipse!

All Family First Debit and Credit Cards are currently experiencing an issue where transactions are not going through. We are working to resolve this and apologize for the inconvenience.

What Sets Us Apart from the Rest

Breadth of Services

We offer it all. From checking accounts to loans to mortgages, we have you covered every step of the way. We know banking, mortgages, and loans so you don’t have to.

Personal & Local Feel

You can view us as your neighbor and trusted adviser. We work with all our members to create customized individual plans and unique solutions to best match their needs.

Competitive Rates

At Family First CU we offer competitive rates on savings products, loans and mortgage. Unlike a bank, we don’t have stockholders – it’s our members who receive the benefits of our success through better rates.

Looking Back Across Our Family Tree

We’ve spent half of a century focused on one thing: people helping people reach their financial goals.

Rooted in Education

Penfield Central Federal Credit Union opened its doors in February 1969 in the home of Penfield teacher Dick Dennison. Embracing the concept of “people helping people”, PCFCU was chartered to serve employees of the Penfield Central School District and their families.

Our first few years saw transactions taking place in our President’s homes, most notably during the mid- 1970’s in former President/CEO Len Szumiloski’s den. Proudly the credit union remains a family tradition with many of the relationships formed in that den still strong today.

Branching Out

In 1983, BOCES (Board of Cooperative Educational Services) Federal Credit Union merged with PCFCU, giving their members access to additional products and services. To reflect our new field of membership, the name was changed to Penfield Federal Credit Union (PFCU) in 1984.

Keeping with our educational roots, in 2008 we opened a student branch at Bishop Kearney High School to promote financial literacy to the students. The credit union had another merger, welcoming Henrietta Credit Union to the family in 2012 and adopted their branch in Henrietta for members.

Our Growth Continues

In 2002, the credit union converted to a current community charter. With a member base that extended far beyond Penfield, it was decided to create a name that was not descriptive of one area but based on our philosophy to put the "Family First."
2021 brought an additional charter expansion into the neighboring counties of Genesee, Livingston and Orleans. Today, after completing over 50 years of service to our members we maintain the same values of family, integrity, relationships, service and trust, that this credit union was founded on.

Meet the People That Put You First
