Family First is proud to announce that Brenda Stone, Director of Operations & CBSAP, has earned the International Association of Financial Crimes Investigators (IAFCI) Financial Crimes Investigator Certification, a significant professional achievement that strengthens Family First’s ongoing commitment to protecting members and the broader community from financial fraud and related crimes.

Stone is now one of just five Certified Financial Crimes Investigators in Rochester, placing her among a small group of professionals with advanced, specialized training in detecting, investigating, and preventing financial crimes. This designation reflects her demonstrated mastery of the latest tools, investigative techniques, and best practices used to combat increasingly sophisticated fraud schemes.

Brenda Stone

Director of Operations & NCBSO

Brenda has been with the organization for 10 years and in that time, she has become a “go-to” person for our staff and membership alike. Brenda oversees the Operations department, managing fraud and electronic services. In addition, she will be providing oversight of the operations functions within our branches, including compliance, auditing, and member services training.

The IAFCI certification recognizes professionals who serve as leaders within their institutions and communities, equipped to respond to threats such as identity theft, account takeover, payment fraud, elder financial exploitation, and other forms of financial crime that can have devastating impacts on individuals and families.

In her role at Family First, Stone plays a critical part in safeguarding member accounts by proactively identifying suspicious activity, strengthening internal controls, and implementing preventative measures designed to stop fraud before it causes harm. Her expertise also supports rapid response when incidents do occur, helping members navigate challenging situations and reduce potential financial loss.

Beyond Family First, Stone’s certification enhances the organization’s ability to support the wider Monroe County community. She regularly collaborates with local and federal law enforcement partners, contributing specialized financial crime expertise that strengthens investigations, supports successful case outcomes, and helps hold offenders accountable. This collaboration not only protects individual victims but also helps deter future criminal activity across the region.

“Brenda’s accomplishment is not only a win for Family First, but for the broader Rochester community as well. Her expertise strengthens our partnerships with law enforcement and enhances our collective ability to combat financial crime. We’re proud to support her growth and the impact she continues to make.” – Eileen Ferris, Family First COO

Family First Credit Union is proud to invest in leadership and expertise that reinforces trust, security, and financial well-being, and congratulates Brenda Stone on this exceptional achievement.
